Mack’s 2012 Golf Pool
This is the second year I’ve run a
golf pool. Please read these rules, as I
have made changes since last year. Hopefully
these changes improve the pool.
The main changes this year are a
shorter season, which will avoid running into the NFL season. The shorter season will be offset by an
increase numbers of players used each week.
Also, you will be allowed to use players two times this year versus the
one time last year.
Website and Commissioner
This golf pool will be run through my
website: https://playoffffpool.tripod.com/.
The website should be fairly easy to follow. I will send email updates periodically, but
the website will have scoring updates and player usage data.
Brian Mackenthun is the Commish. Any questions on how the pool works or issues
with the scoring, please let me know. I
can be reached via email or phone. (mackspools@yahoo.com
and 952-215-1405, respectively)
Lineups
Each week, you will submit 5 golfers.
(With 5 golfers, I should get someone to make the cut!) You may use a golfer twice during the year,
but only once per tournament. Lineups
are due by 7AM each Thursday, except for the British Open. Lineups for the British Open are due by 8PM
Wednesday. You can you the website to
submit entries or you can email them to me at mackspools@yahoo.com.
Scoring
Using our scoring system, the majors
and the ‘smaller’ tournaments all count equal towards determining our
winners. Points will be awarded based on
each golfer’s finish:
1st = 11 pts
2nd = 9
3rd = 8
4th = 7
5th = 6
6th-10th = 4
Top 25 = 3
Made cut = 2
If a golfer misses the cut (MC),
withdraws (WD), or does not play (DNP), he earns zero points.
If multiple golfers end up tied, they
all get the full points. For example, if 3 golfers tie for 2nd, each
golfer gets 9 points. However, if
multiple golfers tie for 1st, only the playoff winner gets 1st
place points, anyone losing in a playoff gets 9 points.
Cost and Prizes
You get all this fun for $20 per
team.
The top two players in each session
and the top 3 for the full season will be awarded prizes. The payouts will be based on the total number
of entries.
Schedule
The season will begin with the Shell
Houston Open. After 20 weeks, the season
will end with the PGA Championship. The
season will also be split into 2 sessions lasting 10 weeks each.
